Are ant faces cute or scary? Let's admire the faces of ants with Quantrimang.com to see if these little creatures are cute or scary !
You've probably never seen an ant like this before: in a close-up photo, Lithuanian photographer Eugenijus Kavaliauskas captured an ant's face that looks like a still from some fantasy epic, a la Lord of the Rings.
This photo was named 'Special Image' in Nikon's 2022 Small World Microphotography Competition, and it's easy to see why. This particular piece has also garnered a lot of attention and praise on Reddit.
The image you see is a close-up of the mandibles and antennae of Camponotus, a common carpenter ant. They nest inside wood, mostly in forest habitats, and feed on dead insect parts, nectar, and honeydew produced by aphids.
Below is a series of beautiful macro photos showing clearly the tiny faces of 12 different species of ants in the world published by photographer Eduard Florin Niga.
