The Adaptive Brightness feature allows Windows to automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the light of the outside environment thanks to the light sensor integrated on the screens, especially laptops.

Adaptive Brightness is a built-in feature on Windows, allowing the operating system to automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the ambient light, thanks to the light sensor integrated on the screen, especially on new laptop lines.
But not all users find this feature useful, especially when switching from light background to dark background websites and vice versa. On the other hand, this feature only works well on machines that have fully installed drivers. Therefore, many people find ways to disable this feature. If you are like that, you can find a solution in the next part of this article.
Press Windows+ Rto open the Run window, type services.msc and press Enter .
In the services window that opens, find and double-click Sensor Monitoring Service . Click Stop , then in Startup type , click the down arrow, select Disabled and click OK to save.
Restart your computer to see if auto brightness has been turned off.
To enable or disable Adaptive Brightness on Windows 10, follow the steps below:
First click the Start button , then enter the keyword Power Options in the Search box to open the Power Options window.
On the Power Options window, click Change Plan Settings next to the Power Plan you are using or the Power Plan you want to edit.
At the bottom of the window you will see the option Change advanced power settings , your task is to click to select that option.
A small dialog box will now appear on the screen.
In this dialog box, scroll down to find the option named Display option , then click on the small plus (+) icon next to the option.
After clicking on the plus (+) icon, you will see options appear on the screen. Your task is to find and select the Enable adaptive brightness option . Here you proceed to set the changes you want, then click OK to save the changes.
Additionally, on Windows 8.1 or versions of Windows 10 released before the Windows 10 Fall Creator Update, you could turn off automatic brightness using System Settings. This feature has been removed since the Windows 10 Fall Creator Update.
To change screen brightness through system settings, go to Settings => System => Display .
Next, scroll down to find the Adjust my screen brightness automatically option and switch it to ON or OFF to enable or disable the option.
1. Open Settings and tap the System icon.
2. Click Display on the left and uncheck Change brightness automatically when lighting changes on the right under Brightness and color .
3. Now, you can close Settings if you want.

2. Type the command below into Command Prompt and press Enter.

1. Open Command Prompt.
2. Copy and paste the powercfg /L command into Command Prompt and press Enter. Note down the GUID number (for example: 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c ) of the power plan you want to apply.
The power plan (eg High performance ) with an * to the right is your current active power plan.
3. Type the command below that you want to use into Command Prompt and press Enter.
(When using battery)
powercfg -setdcvalueindex GUID 7516b95f-f776-4464-8c53-06167f40cc99 FBD9AA66-9553-4097-BA44-ED6E9D65EAB8 IndexOr:
(When charging)
powercfg -setacvalueindex GUID 7516b95f-f776-4464-8c53-06167f40cc99 FBD9AA66-9553-4097-BA44-ED6E9D65EAB8 0Replace the GUID in the above command with the actual GUID from step 2 above for the power plan you want this to apply to.
For example, to disable automatic screen brightness adjustment for GUID power High performance (8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c), enter the following command:
powercfg -setacvalueindex 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c 7516b95f-f776-4464-8c53-06167f40cc99 FBD9AA66-9553-4097-BA44-ED6E9D65EAB8 0
4. Type the command below into Command Prompt and press Enter to apply the changes. You can then close Command Prompt if you want.
powercfg -SetActive GUIDReplace the GUID in the above command with the same GUID from step 2 above for the power plan you want to apply.
For example:
powercfg -SetActive 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c
If your computer still automatically changes the screen brightness after doing the above, check to see if you are using Intel graphics. Intel has built-in battery saving technology to help increase the usage time when taking the laptop out. This feature may be the reason why the screen still automatically brightens and darkens according to the color of the web page when you turn off auto-brightness.
